Lithium Extraction From Sea Water
Nordische developed a design of a continuous electrical pumping membrane and electrolyzing process, which successfully enriched the generation of commercial grade Lithium from seawater mining process.
As it is known, oceans contain about 5,000 times more lithium than the land but at extremely low concentrations of about 0.2 parts per million (ppm).
An innovative electrochemical cell containing a ceramic membrane is developed. Its crystal structure contains holes just wide enough to let lithium ions pass through while blocking larger metal ions.
Nordische technologies will continue optimizing the membrane structure and cell design as well technology to improve the process efficiency to produce the specialized membrane at a large scale and affordable cost.
It is expected that our approach will lead to the development of a promising process to secure the supply of lithium as well as the production of Hydrogen for future energy uses.
